Color terms
color spectrum: When a beam of white light passes through a wedge-shaped glass, called a prism, the beam of white light is bent and separated into bands of color. The colors of the spectrum always appear in the same order-R,O,Y,G,B,V. The rainbow is a natural example of a spectrum.
HUE: pure color. EX-Red, orange, yellow, green, Blue and violet are all different hues.
A tint is when a Hue is mixed with white. |
A SHADE IS WHEN A hue IS MIXED WITH BLACK. |
INTENSITY: How saturated/pure a color is. A color that is mixed with its complement is neutralized/dull.
Achromatic: Without color. Black, white and mixtures of black & white.
Chromatic neutrals: colors achieved by mixing complementary colors
