Shoe Project Goal:
Use observational drawing skills to create a contour line drawing of a shoe. Transform the line drawing into an image displaying form through the use of value and color.
For this assignment, you will be working on techniques to use VALUE in order to create FORM on an object.
VALUE is the lightness or darkness within the artwork. By using different values to shade the shoe, you can take the flat drawing of the shoe and transform it into an image with a 3-dimensional likeness (FORM).
Decide where your light source is coming from and create highlights and shadows based upon that.
More contrast of light and dark shading = more form/ the illusion of 3D

Directions:
There are many ways to get the same result. Below are two different sets of instructions to add color, choose the one that works best for you.
Option 1
THE FIRST WAY IS THE SAME WAY WE COLORED THE COLORING pages. Using two layers- one black lines, the other color.
Option 2
This method is more "painterly" and might be the desired method if you plan to use the Wacom tablet. Click the link below
How to Add patterns, gradients & textures to parts of the shoe...
1. With the magic wand or quick selection tool, select the area that you would like work on
2. Expand the selection area by 2-3 pixels to ensure that there is no gap between the lines you've drawn and the color you will add
3. Paint as desired.
4. With that area still selected press Command J. This will copy only the selected area onto a new layer.
*You may want to name the layer according to what part of the shoe it is.
5. Double click on the new layer in the layers panel. This will give you a menu with many options.

-Check off an effect that you would like. Click to the right of the check box (on the name of the effect) to have more options within that category.
-Play with the opacity, scale of the pattern and the different patterns that come standard to Photoshop.
*If you had made your own pattern (such as mesh) you would find it here along with the choices Photoshop has.

-Choose a category of patterns you would like to view
-Append will add the new patterns to your current list of patterns rather than replace them (which OK would do)
