Goal: Utilize photoshop tools and techniques to demonstrate photo-editing & enhancing knowledge.
Photoshop is an amazing tool to edit, enhance and manipulate photos that you've taken. In the next unit we will utilize photos that you've taken outside of class.
You can simply take photos from your phone and upload them to google drive or email them to yourself. You can go on facebook on your phone and save picture to email to yourself as well. Please don't go on facebook on the school computer.
You could also take one using Photobooth on the Mac Go to the blue face on your dock>applications>Photobooth
If you don't have a photo for the first day find a free stock photo website and choose from one they've got. But the important thing is that we want a photo that hasn't already been cleaned up or edited.

lets Get started!
Use a personal photo that is unflitered. We will utilize some basic tools/techniques to clean up the image.
1. try out important tools in photo editing...
The spot healing tool looks like a bandaid with little dots around it. This tool is great for eliminating blemishes as well as many other many circumstances. When editing photos it is important to make any changes on a separate layer so that nothing is permanent! When doing this you will need the box checked off that reads "Sample all layers". Watch the video below...

The Healing Brush can be found inside the same tool as the spot healing brush, and it accomplishes a similar effect. It does however require you to sample an area to copy. To do this you hold down the option/alt key and click once where you want to sample. Then you move to the area you would like to cover up and begin painting.
The Clone Tool also require you to sample an area. Again, you simply find an area you'd like to copy, hold down the option/alt key, then click once. Now you move to the area you'd like to fix and begin painting. Unlike the Healing brush, it creates an exact duplicate of the sampled area, rather than creating a blended look. As you paint the selected area moves (you can see a small cursor indicating the sample area). You may need to continuously update the sampled area, especially if you get to the edge of the page. You also have the ability to change the opacity when using the clone tool. |
2. Enhancing photos
Now that you've edited your photo as desired you can enhance it! The finished effect is similar to the filters often used on an Iphone or Instagram. In Photoshop there is much more room for creativity! Click on the links below...

- Select an area to replace on the image. ...
- Drag the selection over the area you want to generate a fill from.
3. Creating a double exposure
A double exposure is when you use two photos to create an artwork. They appear to blend together. Like most things in Photoshop this can be done in multiple ways. Start with two photos, each on their own layer in Photoshop. (First enhance the photos using methods from the tutorials above if you haven't already). I then change the opacity, blending modes, and erase areas to reveal the photo underneath. Below are a few examples as well as links to tutorials that may help you accomplish your desired result.
