Typography is essential to graphic design and any document containing letters or numbers uses it. Similar to what you might consider font (although different), typography is the style and appearance of printed matter. Different typefaces convey different emotions and moods. Finding the most appropriate typeface takes attention to detail.

In addition to the basic typefaces pre-downloaded in a program such as Photoshop, graphic designers often create typefaces by hand. Another option would be to purchase font families created by others. You can also download free fonts on websites such as dafont.com but these are not complete font families and therefore will not achieve as much variety and versatility as a quality, hand-drawn font family.
