Create a value scale by hand
Did you know there are different techniques when creating value with graphite?
1. SMOOTH AND EVEN- shading
Shade using straight lines placed close together. Slowly build layers of short pencil strokes filling the entire box. Use one pencil- HB, 2H or 2B.
2. TEXTURED- Hatching or cross-hatching
Hatching- straight lines going horizontal or vertical.
Cross-hatching- lines that go vertical, horizontal and diagonal.
Cross-hatching- lines that go vertical, horizontal and diagonal.
3. inked TEXTURED (with a pen)
Complete the 9 scale value using pen. You may use hatching, cross-hatching, or invent your own technique.
